With the votes coming to a close and only a few choices left to make – upstairs carpeting, the Master Bath tile, and doorknobs – the Built by Facebook House is making huge progress in its building process. What started as an empty lot in our KempBridge new homes community in Chesapeake, VA has since become the beginnings of a beautiful and spacious Waverly home.
The new home has been framed, and the interior is insulated and sheetrocked.
We’re still waiting to see most of the choices our Facebook fans have picked, such as the kitchen cabinets and granite countertops, hardwood flooring, fireplace surround, and plumbing hardware, but the exterior color scheme is already starting to take shape. Colors were one of the first votes that kicked off this Built by Facebook campaign, and the Bordeaux Brick and Monterey Sand board and batten siding is already being installed.
Do you see a resemblance?

Last week, our Facebook Fans choose “Espresso” for Built by Facebook’s kitchen cabinets.
A lovely and rich color, Espresso now needs to be paired with an equally classy and modern granite color. This week, we are presenting four choices – Giallo Fiesta, Azul Platino, St. Cecelia, and Giallo Veneziano. Please click the image below to see the fine details of each granite sample!
- Giallo Fiesta from Brazil features cool whites and grays partnered with warm creams, yellows and golds.
- Azul Platino from Spain is a low variation gray and white slab granite.
- Santa Cecelia from Brazil is a beautiful beige background with burgundy, gold and dark gray veins.
- Giallo Veneziano from Brazil is a medium variation granite with a rich golden (almost pink) background and black and gray veins.
Each granite choice is relatively lighter in color and will go beautifully with Espresso cabinets. It’s up to you to pick the best one! Check out our Facebook Page to vote today!

This week’s Built by Facebook’s vote will narrow down the kitchen cabinet’s color. What will it be – light, medium, or dark? These three beautiful shades are from Armstrong Cabinets, which offer solid maple construction and standard reveal doors with double waterfall inner and outer sculptured edges.
It’s always good to know what colors of granite are available when choosing your cabinet color. We will be picking granite next week, but for now, take a look at the colors that will be available (click on image for a larger view):

It’s time for the 5th vote in Built by Facebook! After deciding on a beautiful Waverly Transitional with a wonderful color scheme of tans and reds, we’re moving on to the interior of the house. Check out the voting on our Facebook Page!
This week we’re focusing on kitchen cabinets. There are 3 choices of cabinets from Armstrong Cabinets. All are maple construction, but they vary in style.
Option A: The Caruth
This cabinet comes standard in KempBridge. It has simple moldings, with a traditional look. “Whether formal or casual, Caruth will mirror your lifestyle. This smooth flat panel standard reveal door offers visually limitless options for your room décor and is living proof that beauty and practicality can coexist.”
Option B: The Trevant
Trevant is a Level 1 Upgrade. Clean, minimal lines for that contemporary look. “The alluring beauty of Trevant’s beautiful clear grain maple is masterfully fashioned with modern-day flair. The ever-popular Shaker style has a timeless look that will match any home’s décor. Its wide door frames make a bold, elegant statement.”
Option C: The Berkshire
Berkshire is a Level 2 cabinet Upgrade. It has a raised panel center for that traditional look. “For hundreds of years furniture makers and interior designers have prized the hallmark of maple. Berkshire offers the satin smooth, clear grain beauty of maple, giving a very sophisticated transitional styling advantage. Standard reveal doors with double waterfall inner and outer sculptured edges complement any decorating theme.”
Next week we’ll pick cabinet color!

This week’s vote chooses exterior style of The Waverly. There are two options in all KempBridge models: Traditional and Transitional.
In this particular model, there are many differences between the two. Both do have mostly brick fronts, but the Traditional accent siding is beaded lapboard and hardie cedar shakes in the top gables, and the Transitional has a board and batten contrast. The Transitional also has rounded garage door windows, a full length porch across the front of the home, and a lack of shutters compared to the Traditional. Do you like interesting rooflines? Check out the Transitional’s clipped corners!
The vote is going on now and will go through the end of the week on our Facebook Page.
Despite a last minute push by Belmont fans, THE WAVERLY is the very first winning vote in our Built by Facebook campaign.
An overwhelming favorite, The Waverly boasts an open floor plan with plenty of living space. The base model starts at 2,825 square feet! Voters were drawn to the 2nd floor’s Game Room space at the top of the stairs, the welcoming Foyer, and above all, the exterior’s refined style. This stately home will fit in GREAT in KempBridge.
Next week, we’ll decide which exterior scheme this Waverly will have: Traditional or Transitional. Here is a sneak peak of the two (click on the image to see a larger size):
Built by Facebook kicks off TODAY. (For a refresher course on what it’s all about, check out our first blog post)
We first want you to decide which elevation you like best to be built in KempBridge in Chesapeake. What is going to be the newest addition to this amazing community?
Your choices are between the Waverly and the Belmont. Study each exterior and floorplan carefully!  While each is a beautiful, open-concept two-story home with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, there are definite differences in layout. For example, notice the garage attaches to the Kitchen in the Belmont, but opens to the Foyer and Family Room in the Waverly. When you get home from work, where would you rather enter the house? First stop in the kitchen for a snack or plop on the couch and turn on the TV?
Go to our Facebook Page and cast your vote now!
Homes in KempBridge are all brick front with vinyl or hardieplank siding and rear. In addition to the Waverly and the Belmont, we are also introducing the Remington and the Waterford as new models offered. More information and pictures of these models are soon to follow!
