The refuge currently encompasses over 112,000 acres with special designations for Bird Areas, national natural landmarks, and even the Underground Railroad Network to Freedom site designations.
Lone Star Lakes offers 11 lakes for freshwater fishing, nature trails and picnic areas. You can also utilize the playground, four-mile horse trail, archery range, model airplane flying field, shoreline fishing areas and piers within this 1,063-acre wilderness park.
